Copy Cat Killer

He needs his base cleaned up, and a spot or two I see on the camera pictures. One more to go!

Tale of ___ gamers note:
Army choice: Leaning towards High Elves. My wife game me models for the first time this past Christmas, and I need to paint some of these presents!
Painting Plan: Month 1: 18 Lothern Seaguard, inc. full command for 259 points. Bonus: Mage all from the isle of blood box.
Month 2: 8 Dragon Princes, Full command for 290 points. Bonus: 2 objective markers that look like way-stones.
Month 3: 12 reavers, Musician and champ for 266 points. Bonus: 1 Bolt thrower.
Month 4: either 15 Sword masters or Pheonix Guard, full command for 255 points. Bonus: Eagle or Prince on Griffon.
Add this to the 10 sword masters I already have mostly done and the chariot I have started, I have a decent High Elf force in under half a year!
I suppose the other option is to start a TombKing army and paint nothing but their new monster each and every month. I am sure that would go over reeeeaaaal good. yea.

Purple lady and a Gamers tale.

Another of Seamus' girl friends is done. I have one more to finish and the copy cat killer totem. The totem is 60% finished while the last lady is only at the primer stage. As soon as they are done I am going to start a personal project that I approached my local gaming store about. The tale of 4 gamers from GW sounds like it is not only a good time, but a great way to get interest in a game going as well as encouraging people to paint their armies.

I have put together a simple schedulel for the contest to allow even our slower painters to get involved. Army choices must be submitted by the 20th of this month, followed by 250 points of finished/based models on the 20th of each subsequent month. Added to this there are mini tasks to complete like a hero over and above the 250 points the first month, 2 objective markers in month 2, a war-machine in the third month and lastly something larger than a cavalry base in month four.
I would love to encourage anyone that reads this blog to participate along with me. If you want, take some pictures and send them to me. It would be great to post lots of pictures regardless of the painting levels of people to encourage and motivate.
To wrap up...last 2 Seamus Gang models done this week (fingers crossed) and then I begin assembling and basing models in preperation of the Tale of gamers. (You can have them assembled and primed but no paint on them)
Talk to you soon, Bard

Another dead Doggie

Another little puppy done. The open wounds/fleshy bits turned out well, especially in person. The colours turned out very convincing. I painted spots into the eye sockets and they are done the same way as the dead prostitutes are, but this time it looks more like a reflection that milky pupil. That leaves two dead prostitutes and the copy cat killer. 2 of them have paint base coats, and I might even be able to complete another model this weekend, except I need to go back to work and do some organizing this weekend at some point. BLEGH! Let me know what you think of this addition to the Seamus band.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter, and what better way to celebrate than with undead prostitutes??? Maybe. Not. Regardless, its Easter, and I wish everyone a happy holiday, AND I have finished painting another of Seamus' little undead ladies of the night. I have also gotten the base colours done on a second one and have also started the skin tones on the little copy cat killer. I will post them as updates when they are a bit closer to being completed.
Hope you enjoy!

Seamus and Sybelle Done

They are done and sit with a coat of sealer as I type.
The enemy of guild and Union, Seamus' notoriety only grows as he commits crimes in order to refine his skill with undeath. And to this end, the lovely ladies of the night, who seek not only a quick buck, but the choicest of brains upon which to feast are soon to arrive! (AKA they are next! And as per request, they will also be painted up in the same manner as the original art suggests)
Hope you enjoy,
Bard

Sybelle and Seamus

Sybelle is looking horrid just as I imagine a decomposing madame would. She has also received a coat of Armypainter Dullcoat. I am going to paint her little lady friends with slightly more flesh tone in the starting mix to make it look like they are a bit fresher. Mmmmm Fresh Meat!!
Seamus is well on his way. As you can see by the picture, the base colors are all getting put on at a decent pace. I am not sure I would have painted Seamus in this manner though for myself. I probably would have gone more in the purple range. Maybe saved the blues for where the pink is now. His hair is going to be highlighted up to a white color and all his clothing will receive many further highlights. He should look finished by about wednesday.
Let me know what you think! Cheers, Bard

All the ladies

I wasn't able to do any painting today, but I did manage to head down to my local gaming store and play some Malifaux (watched and talked tonight actually). But while I was there my freshly commissioned Collette war band made an appearance. Lucky for me I had a camera and was able to snap some pictures of all the ladies together. (I think they are also undefeated right now!) So without further ado, I present to you the famous, the one and only, Collette!

WIP 2 - Argh! My stomach!

AARrRrrrrGGgggggH! MY Stomach!!...
Lord Chompy-Bits has his stomach more or less done. Unless anyone sees something that needs changing, I am going to keep it this way I think, maybe a wash though. Are the teeth too white? More yellow or just right? His loin cloth is almost done. I am debating on stains along the edge...will depend on the base too. The legs are almost done, just nails and a final highlight...its the arms that still need work, especially towards the hands. I also don't like the face, the molding is very rough in the mouth. I haven't forgotten the chains along the front either, and I have a few bits on the back left too, maybe a couple more nights worth. Maybe a Friday night finish, or Saturday at the latest!

Chompy WIP

Lord Chompy got more paint thrown at him tonight. I am starting to be happier with the highlighted areas. Its taken many layers to get to the paleness I had pictured. The loin cloth is a khaki colour that is easy to highlight with white, which will keep things in the same tone range. It will tie in some of the other models in the warband, because they will all sport the same dirty, solied cloth. The joints will all have purple/red washed into them as well.
I thought I would like this model more than I do to be honest. At least when you paint an orc the teeth are large and easy to pick out...this thing has such small teeth around him that they need a magnifying glass to see the definition of them. Small gripes aside, I am crossing my fingers that I will like him more than I do when he is done being painted.
I also got some primer on my Kirai warband. These are some beautiful japanese themed models. I have them all a quick blue wash last night to help pick out the detail. I have plans to paint them in a mystical hawk turcoise highlighted to white...very spirit like. I will offset this with pure white clothing accented in orange. Wow, way to use a color wheel Bard!
More later

Lord Chompy-bits and the Great Mistake

I thought to myself ...self, you should try your hand at casting some bases for your models. That would be awesome, and maybe someone would want to buy some, that would be cooler yet! And so I went looking around the city and found a great store that sold me all the essentials I would need to cast some bases. Everything, but a brain that is. I went and made a cool base, that I had added green stuff metal plates and chains to, and what do I do? I go and F it all up is what. Yup, I realized as soon as I tried to extract my original from a cylinder of...resin. WOW, that was a stupid and costly mistake. So, I have now put together 2 new bases and will use the actual rubber compound to make a mold prior to pouring resin!! The two bases are supposed to be bamboo kept together with leather straps. Hopefully this time it will work. I will use them for my Japanese themed undead Malifaux band, and perhaps my Nightmare warband. The nightmares need some carpet, with tassels on the fringe and maybe the odd toy on said carpet to be appropriate...but that's for later.
The great Mistake!
The bottom, all that's left of the original
The new bamboo

Lord chompy Bits and the nightmare gang are on my painting table right now. So is a skaven weapon team!

Malifaux Coryphee

I'm nearly done the Coryphee, and with them, done painting a friends models. It will be good to go back to painting my own models. And I am sure he will be happy to stomp me and anyone else that gets in his way with a fully painted warband.

For those of you that have yet to play or collect the models for the Malifaux gaming system, I strongly recommend that you look into it. The game is fast paced, small scale (meaning you don't need to invest a huge amount of $) and full of over the top characters. I use the word over the top in a good way though. When my friends and I started to play the game one of the comments that came out was "wow, your leader is broken!" "but so is mine!" Every single 'caster' brings a unique dimension to the game and is broken in a wonderfully fun and individual way. You never feel like you are going into a fight and are going to loose.

I started my collection with the Lilith war band. She is from a faction known as the neverborn. Think Demons and wonderful nastiness. Some of my favorites are the possessed dolls, etc. After I started to paint these I decided that it might be fun to try a different warband. So I went and got myself a starter of the Viktorias. They are from a faction known as the Outcasts. So much fun, and such pretty models.

Dancing girls? Arcanists faction
I really find my attention being jerked every which way by this game. The models are top notch. Game play is quick, and even a dunce like me can get a hang of the models after only a few games.

cheers, Bard
p.s. Thanks to those of you that have helped with my Movember cause. Still some time left!

I choose you Pikachu!

WTF!?! Pikachu? Well…no, but certainly its Ok if the Biggest of them all chooses his own name isn’t it? Life is once again more or less back to nErmal, with the reports done and submitted. Now it’s back to a normal life of painting and…comparing models?

Yes, the other day as I was going through some paper-work, I looked up and there were my three giants and I couldn’t help but compare the size and details of all of them. Personally I love the size of the large one in the back, the detail of the old metal fella and the…ummm, what do I like about the newer one? Well, it is mostly painted. It has more options, but let’s face it, he’s not all that and a cup of tea. Mmmmm Tea…. Anyway… anyone else need a tea and cookies?
If Pikachu stands up straight hed really be scary!!

Let me know your thoughts on these three very different giants.

Collette
Last but not least, here is the Collette model for the warband I am painting up. She still needs some cleaning up. I always dread the camera/picture completion check. Mistakes always show up on a picture.

Warshrine and Malifaux

Small update from tonights efforts.
The Warshrine is coming along and I have a bit more work done on the Malifaux warband I am painting for someone. The two greenies have highlights left to do, and the red puppet has had her metals highlighted.

The warshrine has had the under-carridge worked on, with wheels attached. The top of the shrine has had pools of slime and gunk added. I think they will add the three dimensional look I want to the pools of gribbly gunk. Good call Kuffeh! I also intend on adding a nurgling on the top and probably a few of them on the base, so there is no mistake who this shrine is dedicated too.
Cheers,
Bard

P.S, my Skaven look like they will be getting reinforcements in January of 2011. I found this list online through BOLS.

- Ikit Claw
Plastic Boxes
- Hell Pit Abomination
- Warp Lightning Cannon / Plagueclaw Catapult

Camera is back!

The Camera is back, and with it the chance to take some pictures of the trouble Ive been getting into. First a couple shots of the plague furnace I have been working on...a little here and there, but good progress overall. The censor has the fumes done with multiple washes, as I felt the dark cloudy nastiness call to me as I painted.
Second 2 shots are of a commision I have been working on. They are of the new Collette band for Malifaux. Georgeous models with lots of details. I got this model finished to see if thats what the owner of the model wanted. A thumbs up means go ahead and get them done! Requests will have the models looking like some comic characters.
Please enjoy! Comments are very welcome!

Nasty smokey death! Go Skaven!
